Yosemite

July 25, 2012
We were late getting of Sequoia National Park, which made us late getting to  the campground in El Portal (outside of Yosemite).   We should have had  seconds thoughts about the Indian Flat RV campground after  nerve racking on the edge of your seat drive (mountainous terrain with hairpin curves).
The campground was on the side of a mountain and the sites where very close together.  We thought we blew the transmission in the truck trying to  back into the site they gave us (the transmission overheated and boiled over).  We ended up parking the RV out front and staying the night in the Cedar Lodge,  which was next door.

July 26 and 27, 2012
We checked the fluid levels in the truck and Scott drove the RV out of the valley,  with out incident. We ended up camping in at the Mariposa Fair Grounds. It was  about 22 miles west of El Portal and much easier to get into.  We spent Thursday  and Friday exploring Yosemite. Yosemite was very crowded and Yosemite falls was just a trickle (discovered that the best time to visit Yosemite is in April or May).  Bridal Veil falls was pretty and the view from Glacier Point was beautiful.

  1. I am sure enjoying reading about your adventure. Those are some huge...gigantic trees and soooooo pretty. It is very scary traveling through the mountains. I have to get the atlas out to find you on the map. I am horrible with my geography! Shame on me! Your pictures are magnificent and you look great. I'm soooo glad the truck is ok.

Can't wait for the next update.....be safe.....till later!
